“I work full time as a university teacher, and periods away from the classroom allow me to decompress, so that my mind can wander into new creative places if I am in a generative phase and focus if I am revising. For me, the natural setting of Hambidge was conducive to creativity, particularly in my (current) generative phase. I also appreciated the opportunity to interact with other people committed to their arts, knowing that they were working as hard as I was. As my daughter is very young (a toddler), I am still in the process of figuring out how to incorporate my writing life with my family life. Hambidge gave me a chance to begin to do this, by giving me space to write that also welcomed my daughter. I hope that you will continue to offer this opportunity to families, as it is a rare one.”
