Led by artist Marryam Moma, participants will unearth the transformative power of collage in this hands-on 2-hour workshop. Using simple materials, and an inspiring collection of vintage magazines, found imagery, and decorative papers, you'll learn the fundamentals of analog collage while creating an original 8x10" artwork to take home.
Led by Kamil Oshundara and Roberto Rafael Navarrete, this offering centers collective remembrance and creative ritual. Come ready to share ancestral anecdotes and connect over a light meal, coffee, and tea from local artisans. The session will begin with a creative flow of movement, communal activities, and a stream of historical insight designed to demystify ancestral veneration as we work to reconnect with our lineages.
The session begins with a gentle yin yoga flow and concludes with a communal ancestral altar feeding — an offering meant to provide the foundations of ancestral veneration. Participants will leave with tools intended to be implemented and shared by all, regardless of spiritual background.
Please note: this event takes place in Atlanta at Hambidge Hive at Uptown!
The session is led by Kamil Oshundara — a screenwriter, cultural consultant for film and TV, and Afrosurreal artist who has been an Olorisha of Shango, a practitioner of the Yoruba Ifa tradition, for over a decade. As a Black trans devotee with mystic training, Kamil approaches ancient spirituality from a queer-inclusive, diaspora-centered perspective meant to unite those often ostracized from mainstream Orisha-based spaces. Kamil will guide the group through a creative flow of movement, communal activities, and a stream of historical insight designed to demystify ancestral veneration as we work to reconnect with our lineages. Charcoal has a wild side—it can be smoky and subtle, or bold and unruly. In this workshop, we’ll court all of its personalities by working with vine, compressed, and powdered charcoal across a range of surfaces. Think of it as a laboratory for mark-making: we’ll smear, erase, layer, splash, and discover how chance and control dance together on the page.
This summer, Hambidge Hive arrives—15 floors up! With panoramic city views, we’re flipping the 15th floor into a full-on creative takeover—think connected rooms, pop-up galleries, cozy lounges, and immersive installations.
