“Having several different pieces vying for attention during my residency, it was important to have three weeks of unstructured time to work through the very different issues with each piece. Moving from chamber music to a theatrical composition can be jarring, particularly if the pieces have not been on the top of your to-do list for some time because of other work. Having the chance to schedule the time given us at Hambidge is the most important feature of the residency. An additional feature is the chance to meet other artists at different stages in their careers, and in different relationships to the arts in general. Hambidge attracts a great mix of working artists in as much of a stress-free environment as might exist.”
