“The remote location and extraordinary beauty of the Hambidge Center make for an ideal retreat to foster creativity. Divorced from the distractions of the greater world, the isolation of Hambidge induces a meditative state, allowing one to go deep and connect with energies often dissipated in the everyday world. Each artist studio relates to the greater landscape in its own distinct way and permits each artist to establish a special sense of belonging to the broader creative hub of Hambidge. The rich mix of visual artists, writers and scholars breeds a cross pollination that enriches one's own work in unexpected ways. During my residency in 2019, I was fortunate to be part of a generous group that shared and supported one anothers’ work with genuine interest and care. This invaluable bonding among residents attests to Hambidge's incredible ability to nurture creative freedom, space, and time.”
